The Call of Duty series, which debuted more than 20 years ago, has grown into one of the most successful video game franchises ever, smashing sales records with nearly every new installment.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III broke records at the top of the sales charts last year, despite being a critical failure. Its “Open Combat Missions” and lack of the previous entries’ cinematic presentation made it feel rushed. I stated that Call of Duty “deserved much better than this churned-out disappointment” in my review of Modern Warfare III.
Whatever our opinions about the previous year’s Call of Duty may be, we are all individuals with unique preferences.
